John Endicott is elected “Governor of London’s Plantation in the Massachusetts Bay in New England” in London.
April 30, 1629
The “local governor,” subordinate to the London governor, Endecott had arrived in Salem in 1628. He serves in this capacity until the arrival of John Winthrop in 1630.*
